Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SynapSys Software ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use the GeoChopper mobile game and this website (together, the "Service"). We built GeoChopper to be a fun way to learn geography, and we aim to collect only what we need to run the game well.
Contents
1. Who we are
GeoChopper is created and operated by SynapSys Software, the data controller responsible for your information under this policy. You can reach us at info@synapsys-software.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information, most of it created simply by playing the game:
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account & identity | An anonymous account identifier assigned to your device. If you choose to sign in, a Google or Apple account identifier and the email address associated with that account (with Apple you can choose to hide it behind a private relay email); your sign-in provider may also share your name. A display name you pick for the leaderboards. | To save your progress and let you sign in across devices. |
| Gameplay data | Scores, Flight XP, pilot rank and level, streaks, achievements, mastery per map, missions played, cosmetic items owned, in-app settings and preferences. | To run the game, track progress, and power the leaderboards. |
| Device & technical | Device model, operating system and version, app version, language, general region inferred from your IP address, app installation identifiers, and diagnostic and crash information. | To deliver the app, keep it stable, and understand and fix problems. |
| Usage & analytics | Aggregated, event-level information about how the app is used, such as screens visited and features opened. | To improve the game and see what players enjoy. |
| Purchases | A record of in-app purchases and entitlements. Payments are processed by Apple or Google; we receive a confirmation, not your card details. | To grant and restore what you buy. |
| Notifications | A push notification token, if you enable notifications. | To send reminders such as streak alerts. You can turn these off at any time. |
| Support & sharing | If you contact us at our support email, the contents of your message and your email address. Content you choose to share from the game using your device's share sheet. | To answer your questions, and to let you share your results if you want to. |
3. What we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise or device GPS location. The maps in the game are educational content, not your real-world position.
- We do not show third-party advertising and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- GeoChopper has no chat, messaging or user-generated content, so we do not collect anything of that kind.
- We never receive or store your payment card numbers or bank details. Those are handled entirely by Apple and Google.
4. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the game, including saving and syncing your progress.
- To run competitive features such as leaderboards, streaks and achievements.
- To process and restore in-app purchases.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent cheating, fraud and abuse.
- To diagnose crashes, monitor performance and improve the app.
- To send you notifications you have opted into, and to respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example under the GDPR), we rely on the performance of our agreement with you (the Terms of Use) to provide the game, on our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure and improving it, on your consent for optional features such as notifications, and on compliance with legal obligations.
5. Service providers we use
We use a small set of trusted providers to run GeoChopper. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) for authentication, database and cloud storage, app hosting, crash reporting, performance monitoring, analytics, push messaging and abuse prevention (App Check). See the Firebase Privacy and Security information and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple, if you choose to create or link an account. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution and for processing in-app purchases.
6. How we share information
We share information only in these limited situations:
- With the service providers above, so they can perform services for us.
- Publicly, in a limited way, on leaderboards. The display name you choose and your score are visible to other players. Please avoid using your real name if you prefer to stay anonymous.
- For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of our players, the public or SynapSys Software.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, in which case we will let you know.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account exists so that your progress is available to you. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we will remove or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep certain records to comply with the law, resolve disputes or prevent abuse. Aggregated or anonymized data that can no longer identify you may be kept for analytics.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and abuse prevention. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to protect your data.
9. International data transfers
Our primary game database is hosted in the European Union. Some of our providers, including Google and Apple, may process data in other countries, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of your region, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for optional features at any time.
You can control push notifications in your device settings. To exercise any of the rights above, or to request deletion of your account and associated data, see Delete Your Account or contact us at info@synapsys-software.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Children's privacy
GeoChopper is suitable for a general audience, including families. We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is needed to run the game, we do not show ads, and there is no chat or user-generated content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner prohibited by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information in a way that requires parental consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
13. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, email us at info@synapsys-software.com.
